We've been getting more and more inquiries toward printing stickers, and we're sick of outsourcing! I was curious if anyone out there could walk me through it i.e what kind of inks do we use? We just have a manual 4 color 4 station old school Hopkins,, and all of the dryers neccessary for textile printing. Thank you to whoever responds!

For vinyl pressure sensitive printing you can use several inks. A good multipurpose should do. NazDar 's 9700 series works well.

Compatability chart online. A vacuum press is the way to go as far as equipment. I believe there is someone hammering this site now with used equipment ads. For short run stickers, a solvent inkjet is the way to go. Staright from desktop to finished product.

For Sticker printing like d fleming said, just about any screen ink company
makes vinyl inks, most vinyl inks can also be used for things like acrylic, magnets as well. If you live where it is hot and dry in summer and you print room is not air conditioned make sure you use retarder!!

Vacuum press very important, if you can afford it get press that will let you also print 3x2 foot or 2x1 foot corflute as well. Vertical lift, clam shell or even one arm bandits, depends on your preference.

You'll find you may need a few drying racks, as using a heat tunnel may heat and shrink the stock too much on multicolours, most vinyl inks dry within about 15-20 minutes, I just use a floor fan to push the solvents away from the racks.

Careful using digital printers for short run, I know of a few people who have used them and the ink wasn't as hardy as screened ink.

Hope this helps.

Depends on the machine, my Seiko prints just fine for short run.

I would agree with the 9700 series from Naz Dar. It is a good all purpose ink
and on their website they also post color formulas for PMS matches with their
different ink series. I have also printed decals on a flat table with formica top
(easy to make) using a table adhesive you can get from a sign supply shop
and in a pinch, depending on space and quantity you can string clothesline and
use clothes pins to hang the wet prints. This will also keep your prints clean
while the ink is wet if your environment is dusty or not the cleanest area.

Hi EvilTwin! first you need to know what kind of sticker stocks are used for screen printing. Most popular sticker stock being in use these days is White vinyl PVC sticker and Clear Vinyl PVC sticker. Then if you choose PVC inks there is no need of any kind of dryer PVC inks dry themselves on PVC sticker stock. most popular ink sets are like Nylon Plastisol Inks. and Jacquard ink set. I hope this will solve your problem. And don't be afraid to outsource your sticker orders. I am sure you haven't find right kind of supplier yet but you can find one.

For small sticker runs we use a Roland versastudio bn-20 - for large runs that are screen printed we print with UV inks and do it very similar to how you print on fabric
