Hi
I've got a just bought a new 31" by 23" aluminum screen with mesh for printing on paper.
I've read that its a good idea to create a permanent margin on the screen so ink can't dry between the mesh and frame and tear the mesh. Can anybody advise how big a permanent margin there should be for an 31" by 23" screen, or does it not really matter?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Shandyman

I don't have any advice pertaining to your question, but I'm curious to know what you'd use to create a permanent margin?
Re: How big should a permanent margin for a screen be?
I usually leave at least 4" all around for well area. Back before I had retensionable screens I would make a permanent well with the adhesive used to attach the fabric to the screen. Now I just use 2" painters tape. I buy it by the case. It works well and doesn't leave adhesive behind too much when removed.

At least 2" around, probably 3".
