Screen Washout Problem
So after i exposed my screen i went to was it out and it was going fine until i noticed a section that looked as if it was peeling away from the screen. As i continued more and more seemed to be peeling from the screen and some of it looked like it was melting.
What could it be?
water pressure too high during washout?
emulsion not allowed to dry long enough?
I do have a picture of the screen if needed.
Oh and im brand new to this.

I have found that if I don't let the emulsion dry overnight I have that problem. How long did you let the emulsion dry before exposing it?

Re: Screen Washout Problem
For smooth exposing you have to select right kind of screen cloth number and screen light house should be equipped with right kind of lighting equipment. Then you have to give enough time to exposed screen for drying. I Hope it will solve your problem.
Re: Screen Washout Problem
Hi,
I got the same problem here
I just used a hair dryer to dry the emulsion
Didn't let it dry overnight, here's what I get
Is it really necessary to let it dry this huge amount of time? thx

Re: Screen Washout Problem
Heat and light will kill the photographic qualities of emulsion. The dryer is a no-no.

what to do then?

De-greased properly?
Insufficient drying?
Underexposure?
too much pressure on washout?
What emulsion and light source are you using?

Re: Screen Washout Problem
Was there ever any resolution to this thread? I'm having same issue. What is to long to let emulsion dry. Is 48 hours to long?
Re: Screen Washout Problem
I was having the same issue when I first started. The only real solution for me was time. I coat and let sit overnight before exposing.
If I'm in a bind I will use a blow dryer, but I try not to be in a bind.
When using a blow dryer, I have had better success with some emulsions over others.
What are you using? Believe it or not, I had little issue with Speedball Diazo. Right now I exclusively use Ryonet WBP (I've had no issues to date). I have had success with both of those and a blow dryer in a pinch. I do post expose as well.
Over night for me was 6-8 hours at the shortest.
